Tessa arrived on January 3rd, but to get ready we had to make her her own little home in our house in advance. Starting this summer, and finishing this fall, we converted my office to her nursery, and moved my desk just outside, into the lounge at the top of the stairs - a great nook for it, I just wish there were some natural light there.
Her nursery inspiration was sort of..vintage French carnival? Hot air balloons, pastel rainbow colors, vintage touches and neutral bedding. I didn't want anything that screamed nursery or princessy baby girl lives here.
Some of the DIY projects in this room:
- Brent made a recessed bookshelf to save space and up storage.
- Brent converted part of one of the eaves into a baby-sized closet
- We bought prints on etsy and framed them ourselves at Framer's Workshop to save on labor costs - holy cow is framing expensive!
- Instead of a mobile, we hung the hot air balloons (purchased individually on ebay for much less than the mobile) from the ceiling using painted eye-hooks.
The changing table is a dresser from Ikea. The paint color stayed the same - Behr's Limelight. The curtains were from Target, and the glider found on a super deal at walmart.com.
